About Fun Forest

Our vision and mission

Climbing and scrambling over obstacles in nature is a great way to overcome fears, learn about your own strengths and build your team. So trees are not the only ones growing in the Fun Forest climbing forest! In our forest everyone is welcome; family, friends, schools, companies. Everyone is equal and helps each other. At Fun Forest, having fun is not enough – we are also a Social Enterprise with a vision for a more inclusive society.

Last year we welcomed more than 150,000 people to our parks throughout the Netherlands. If you visit Fun Forest, then you make an impact! Thanks to your visit we can offer young people, who find it difficult to find work, a place within our team. Here they can grow, develop their self-confidence and get a positive view on the future, for example to study or to reintegrate into the labor market.

The benefits of nature

Back to nature

Of course we love being outside, just take a good look around you. The trees, the green grass, you see a lot of beautiful things in nature. But did you know that nature is not only fun, but also very healthy? Getting 20 minutes of fresh air every day can improve your health, reduce stress and increase your productivity. Especially with burnout and daily screen time on the rise, having fun outside is more important than ever. Come out from behind your screen and take your family, friends or colleagues to our forest and you too will experience the benefits.

Fun Forest is a social enterprise with a vision for a more inclusive society. Our mission: to provide young people, who are struggling to find a job, with an apprenticeship and workplace on our team. This means we do not exist to make money, but to make an impact.

Fulfill your SROI obligation at Fun Forest!

Has your company partnered with the government? If so, chances are you’re dealing with Social Return on Investment, or “SROI. In many cases you can fulfill your SROI obligation by contributing to the social mission of Fun Forest. Fulfill your SROI obligation for example with a company outing in our climbing forest or by donating!

Our story

The first climbing forest in the Netherlands

In 2007, the first climbing forest in the Netherlands was opened: Fun Forest Venlo. The idea arose from enthusiasm for working in nature, together with other people. Three other parks in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Almere soon followed. Besides focusing on climbing, the potential of the parks was used more broadly. Thus the idea arose to use the climbing parks as places where people with a distance to the labor market could be supported. In 2016, the Fun Forest Foundation was established to further develop this social mission.
