About Fun Forest
Mission and vision
Fun Forest offers an active and most of all fun experience in the forest. Climbing and clambering over obstacles in the nature is a great way to overcome fears, learn your own strengths and build a team. In our forest everyone is welcome; families, friends, schools, companies. Everyone is equal and helps each other. At Fun Forest having fun is not enough - we are also a social enterprise with a vision for a more inclusive society.
Last year more than 100,000 people visited our parks across the Netherlands. By visiting our forest you not only get to have fun but you are also supporting our mission is to offer young people, that have difficulties finding work, a learning and work place within our team. In doing so the gain confidence and a positive outlook for the future to start or continue their studies or re-enter the workforce.

Our story
Back to nature
Of course we love trees, we love everything about being outside in the nature. The benefits of being in the nature are well known. Just 20 minutes in the nature per day improve your wellbeing, reduce stress levels and increase productivity. With screen time on the up and a rise in burn-outs in the workplace getting outside in the nature and simply having fun has never been more important. If you visit our forests with your family, colleagues or friends you too will experience the benefits.
Impact
We are proud to be a Social Enterprise with a clear mission to offer young people, that have difficulties finding work, a learning and work place within our team.
We comply with the Code of Social Onderneming which means that making money is not our main reason for existence, rather our Impact.
We make impact in 4 ways by
- Demonstrate the importance of an inclusive society
- Creating learning and work places for young people who have difficulty in entering the workforce
- Facilitate training for young people
- Bring people in contact with nature
We are proud to say that 1/3 of our team is made up of young people that have had difficulty finding work and have gained a learning and working place within our team.
Everyone deserves an adventure
Not every kid has the chance to climb in our forest. We are on a mission to let 1000 children climb in our forests for free. 🌳 You can help us with making this mission a reality. 🤝🏼 How? By buying an Impact Climbing ticket. This ticket will be donated to a child for whom a day out isn't self-evident. We work together with different social organizations to ensure that your ticket will end up in the right place. Together we ensure that everyone has the opportunity to develop during an adventure in nature. 💚
Our Story
The first Fun Forest climbing forest was set up in 2007 in Venlo, the Netherlands by Ernst-Jan who loved the idea of working outside, with his hands in the nature with people. Venlo was closely followed by Amsterdam, Almere and Rotterdam. Then along came Fieke, Ernst-Jan’s wife to be who had a eureka moment to use the forests to help young people that have difficulty finding work. In 2016 Fieke Swarte-Roozen set up the Fun Forest Foundation to develop the social mission of Fun Forest.
