Our vision and mission

Climbing and tackling obstacles in nature is a fantastic way to overcome fears, discover your own strength, and build on your team. But trees aren’t the only ones growing in Fun Forest! Everyone is welcome in our forest—families, friends, schools, and companies. Here, everyone is equal, and we help each other. At Fun Forest, having fun is just the beginning—we are also a Social Enterprise with a vision for a more inclusive society.

Last year, we welcomed over 150,000 visitors to our parks across the Netherlands. By visiting Fun Forest, you are making an impact! Thanks to your visit, we can provide young people who struggle to find a job with a place on our team. Here, they can grow, develop self-confidence, and gain a positive outlook on the future—whether that means pursuing education or reintegrating into the job market.

Fun Forest is a social enterprise with a vision for a more inclusive society. Our mission: To provide young people who struggle to find work with a place to learn and grow within our team. This means that we don’t exist to make a profit, but to create impact.

We’re proud to say that a significant part of our team consists of young people who have difficulty finding a job and who have found a learning and working environment with us. We’d love to introduce you to our colleagues!

From financial contribution to company outing

Fulfill your SROI obligation at Fun Forest!

Has your company worked with the government? If so, you might have an obligation to meet Social Return on Investment (SROI) requirements. In many cases, you can fulfill this obligation by contributing to Fun Forest’s social mission. For example, you can meet your SROI requirements by organizing a company outing in our climbing forest or by making a donation!

Our story

The first climbing forest in the Netherlands

In 2007, the Netherlands’ first climbing forest opened: Fun Forest Venlo. The idea was born out of a passion for working in nature and with people. Soon, three more parks followed in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Almere. As our focus on climbing grew, so did our awareness of the parks’ potential. This led to the idea of using the climbing parks as a space to support people with limited job opportunities. In 2016, the Fun Forest Foundation was established to further develop this social mission.
